Beginning with a television telecast announcing the arrival of an alien race called the Balazons, The Unveiling draws the reader into a fascinating world of deception, conspiracy and struggle for power. Dennis Gilmour spins a wonderful tale dealing with the life of Jeff Saunderson, a quiet pharmacist working at a drugstore who is forced into a seemingly impossible situation where his personal belief and convictions are the only source of help and support.

He finds his life taking a series of surprise turns that makes him the last hope for mankind in its struggle for self-preservation. As the tale unfolds, the reader also begins to identify with Jeff's struggle against his fears and doubts. The protagonist's struggle becomes synonymous with the devout soul's desire for attaining redemption from the world of sin and suffering.

In this debut novel, the author combines the elements of science fiction and a thriller in order to make the work a highly interesting read. The novel is sure to be an instant success with its focus on the present world situation and its attempt to look beyond the problems for a panacea.

This book is a critical take on the contemporary age and its frenzy to attain greater power by any means. The questions of life and beyond along with other mysteries of life are subtly raised and in its own way, this book tries to find an answer to them.

Miraculously, every TV set on earth tunes in when the broadcast begins, and all languages meld into one. The president introduces Khur-zak, leader of an alien race called the Balazons. As the world watches, Khur-zak astounds as he reveals that there is no god. Rather, the Balazons orchestrated all known religions and molded humans from their evolutionary infancy to believe in them. Khur-zak himself claims to have assumed human form and walked the earth 2000 years ago under the name Jesus Christ to bolster the faith of millions.

None of this makes any difference to Jeff Saunderson. He makes up his mind that the Balazons are bad news and watches helplessly as his family, and the world, embraces the aliens with open arms. Jeff's resentment for the "alien-gods" grows. He trusts that his misgivings are unfounded, but his suspicions continue to plague him, like a splinter in his mind's eye.

The Unveiling is Dennis Gilmour's first published work of fiction. Having devoted many years to the book, it is now being sold in select bookstores, sometimes on the same shelf with writer Steven King. Perhaps it is unfair to Gilmour, or King, to use this comparison, but reading parts of The Unveiling reminded me of King's Desperation or The Stand in the personal convictions and beliefs of the character involved. Gilmour says the idea for this novel came from an episode of Star Trek, but there is no Star Trek in it. The Unveiling is dialogue-driven, focusing on personal struggles and character development, not the particle of the week for which much of Star Trek is known.

The book is a science-fiction supernatural thriller that is at once entertaining and thought provoking. It starts fast and keeps the momentum throughout the majority of pages. Experienced readers will be able to finish it in one sitting, and people interested in aliens and the paranormal will find it to be a satisfying read.

Of the novel, Gilmour says, "Don't believe everything you see (in this case, read) because things aren't always as they seem."

Recently I read a unique NOVEL by Dennis Gilmour. Dennis is an author I met on the Internet thru email and he asked that I read his book and give some feedback. On the front of the book is an understatement: "They've been watching us for millennia....now it's our turn to see them."

DECEPTION heads for planet EARTH and it's inhabitants and not only can the aliens be seen ---- but experienced! They came to SAVE mankind! As you begin to read this book there's shock of the events described and those trying to carry on life in other-than-normal times. Are the VISITORS really on Earth to help?

Dennis Gilmour writes exciting lines as the DECEPTION settles upon the Earth AND "What's God's plans in all this?" Reading this book you realize just how THIN the line might be in a world gone MAD !!!

This Novel is "spiritual warfare" on a high level --- for the souls of mankind!

This book blew me away. It was very good. A real page turner! Could not put it down. Some won't take it seriously for several reasons. The front cover may be offensive or too weird for some readers (An Alien on a Cross in space). Many are turned off by reading about Aliens. I found the End-Time theme involving Aliens to be very refreshing, realistic, and interesting involving the link to the New Age Religion & Eastern Thought.

One critique I have with the novel is that the later gifts and abilities that the characters recieve are super-hero in nature and therefore not believeable. However this too also makes it more interesting than other similar books.

Hats off! I'll be searching to find a book as thrilling as this one!

When I first began reading The Unveiling I thought it to be science fiction. Aliens had taken over the world. I admit I had a difficult time reading the beginning of this book because science fiction isn't my forte. However, without giving too much away, by Chapter 11 it had become a fascinating, and spell bounding account of something entirely different and unexpected.

Author Dennis Gilmour gives a different, yet unique approach to something Christians have pondered since the beginning of their faith over 2000 years ago, the End-Times. Having been raised in the church, I was very familiar with mainstream teaching on this subject. However, the author has written this book in a style that the reader can deeply understand what will occur.

The pages flew by as I couldn't draw myself away. Each chapter is wrought with such intensity that many similar books fail to do. The Unveiling is about triumph over tragedy, as well as reasons why we should live our lives with pure hearts towards our beliefs. It does a superb job of bringing new passion to what we all might one day encounter. The author proves himself to be a competent religious teacher and eloquent writer. Readers will find themselves looking at a subject that has always been difficult to comprehend, in a new and interesting way.

This is a great story! It offers a unique twist to end times fiction that's clever, surprising, and exciting. The author was obviously able to "think outside of the box" about how the end times might look and yet adhere to Biblical theology in the telling of this fictional tale. The plot's originality, pacing, and consistency are this book's strong points. I found it difficult to put down until the very last page.

Chapter One of this fictional account of open human contact with aliens begins with a worldwide television broadcast that introduces all viewers to an alien race called the "Balazons". In relation to TV, we've all heard the expression "glued to the tube" and know what it means. Well, I was "glued to the book" from the opening page on.

Although this book is fiction, I read it with fascination, as if it were all happening right now in real life. To me, it was very believable, as I think there is something to the UFO/alien thing. Too many credible witnesses have seen UFOs and been affected by them, too many anomalous radar contacts in the skies, physical evidence left behind etc... that it can all be written off as nonsense. But this is the first book I've ever read that gives a credible explanation as to what these mysterious "aliens" have been doing with mankind for so long. The book was well written and fascinating and absorbing, a real page turner. I couldn't put it down until the final page. The ending wrapped things up nicely and gave a mind blowing (and believable) answer to the Biblical mystery of why an all powerful God would allow the devil and his demons such carte blanche with humans for thousands of years. I walked away awed at a presentation of the love of God in a way no Christian writer has ever done before. I highly recommend it to everyone.

In the fall of 2005, I was contacted by a man named Dennis Gilmour. Mr. Gilmour said that he'd like to exchange links, telling me that he wants to fight the deception of the end times, and that he had written a fictional book, based on Biblical prophecy. He said that the book's subject matter dealt with a race or beings that claimed to have aided in mankind's evolution and that they claimed to be gods who have helped us throughout history. I told Dennis that I would exchange links if I could know more about the book, and the best way to do that would be to read it. Dennis complied and quickly sent me a copy of his book.

I received the book in the mail on a Thursday. I read the back cover right away and I knew immediately that I wouldn't be getting anything done the following weekend. My belief became a reality; I couldn't put the book down. I read it until I fell asleep early Sunday morning and finished it sometime Sunday afternoon. I'm usually not one for fiction, but when it's based on a person's interpretation of future prophetic events I relent to my cautions and just go for it. I did the same thing with the Left Behind series of books. Read all of them in a month's time.

What I really liked about the book is that it portrayed the aliens as extraterrestrials, but it also hints at the idea that these aliens might be the angels that rebelled. The aliens explain that they have been the ones who were worshipped as gods all through history; which is a truth that isn't spoken too much. The fact that the book equates the aliens with fallen angels really blessed me because it is a belief that I hold to.

There was one issue I had with the book. First, near the beginning of the book, when Jeff was in a living a hell in his house, he enters what is described as an entertainment room, described like the holo-deck on the Star Trek episodes. He finds himself in a market and at the check-out stand he's asked for his right hand or forehead. When I wrote to the author about this I asked him if he thought that people who take the mark during the Tribulation period will be able to be saved. The Bible says that is not possible. The author explained to me that in that scenario, the people were being conditioned for the mark that would be coming soon. The author also remarked that he was astonished that I picked that up, saying that nobody else ever wrote him about that. I also have to remind myself when I'm reading fiction, that it is fiction, not fact. But I have to say that the book is pretty well a good description of the deception that I feel will occur during that future period.

MY RECOMMENDATION: I make The Unveiling as a should read to all who read this.

The Unveiling is a unique take on the Book of Revelations portraying the Great Tribulation as what appears to be at first a friendly alien visitation to Earth. Slowly the reader learns that the aliens are not all they appear to be. Using the Science fiction format is a clever way to project future prophesy, and to hold out hope that it is never too late for salvation.

For those who are not familiar with future prophesy, The Unveiling is a very suspenseful account of rapidly unfolding events that keeps one turning the pages. I believe that a sci-fi format is an excellent way to portray many of the mysterious Biblical events and way to project the Word to those who might not otherwise grasp it. This is whole new genre in writing; Christian Science Fiction. Excellent piece of work.

I've read Dennis Gilmour's entertaining and thought-provoking Christian-based science fiction novel, The Unveiling, which is about aliens taking over the planet with, apparently, well wishes. Against a backdrop of a nuclear showdown in the Middle East, the "Balazons" are, according to the storyline, the "gods" that have been directing the course of human progress for millions of years. Admitting that they have made mistakes over the eons, the aliens have manifested through an unveiling to now guide mankind's further spiritual progress. It's a good novel. Like me, Dennis has quite the imagination. What I find interesting is that the cover of the book depicts an alien on a cross. Then Dennis closes his book with an "Author's challenge" to faith and belief, giving a website address where one can learn more about the hidden spiritual messages behind the book. Reading Dennis' interpretation of his own work, I realize there is more here than meets the eye! You must read the book for yourself to understand what I mean, and I highly suggest and hope all readers of this review do just that.
